Who Is the Most Hated Men’s College Basketball Team in Texas?
If there’s one thing I’ve learned as a sports fan it’s that people from outside of Texas hate our sports teams. Now that March Madness is upon us, let’s talk about the men’s basketball team people hate the most.
The thing about college sports is that the hatred doesn’t just come from outside of the state. There’s plenty of hatred from within and I’m here for it. Despising the competition fuels the desire to win like nothing else.

That said, when it comes down to it, I will typically root for a Texas rival over some other team. I know some folks who vehemently disagree with me, and I get it, but I could never be that way. I would rather support homegrown athletes – especially college kids.
When it comes to the most hated men’s college basketball team in the Lone Star State, I would be willing to bet my paycheck that you can totally guess who it is, even if you’re a fan of them like I am. That’s because every time the Texas Longhorns play on the road, you’ll see a sea of “horns down” signs in the crowd – regardless of whether it’s basketball, football, baseball, or softball.
And for the record, no, I’m most certainly not one of those fans who thinks teams should be penalized for throwing the “horns down.” If anything, it should motivate our athletes to try that much harder to shut the haters up.
