Prices are Going Up Again at Texas Dollar Tree Stores
Brace yourselves Texans, thanks to inflation, yet another price increase is coming to Dollar Tree stores. Remember the good old days when everything in the store cost right around $1? That seems like forever ago.
You would have thought the sky was falling when the value retailer announced it would be adding $1.25 items to its stores back in 2019. I knew a few Dollar Tree loyalists who were seriously reconsidering their loyalty over the 25-cent increase. Little did they know at the time, but that was only the beginning.

Two years later in 2021, Dollar Tree began offering $3 and $5 items in store and made $1.25 its minimum price. And now that’s about to change.
According to Clarion Ledger, the new minimum price will increase to $1.50. In addition, Dollar Tree will also be introducing items priced at $7, in addition to the $3 and $5 items.
What is the driving force behind the price increase?
In addition to inflation, Yahoo! Finance reports more six-figure earners have turned to value retailers like Dollar Tree and Aldi. Wealthy Americans who once steered clear of value stores are looking to get the most bang for their buck, which I would I assume is also a result of inflation.
While I understand that’s the cost of doing business these days, it might be time for Dollar Tree to consider a rebrand. Maybe go with Dollar Plus Tree or something along those lines.
