The Importance of Keeping that Phone Handy While Waiting for a Delivery

Sometimes all you can do is sit and wait. It can be tough. You are hungry. You could be starting to get hangry. Now is not the time to let everything else go. No, you need to remember that things can happen.

If you do not have your phone on and then answer, you could be in for a wait. If not, you could at least end up with something you didn't necessarily want. Recently, I had a pickup at Chicken Salad Chick.

The moment I got there, they let me know that they were out of a few items. They were out of egg salad and strawberry lemonade.  The restaurant wanted to know if chicken salad and regular lemonade were ok with them. You never know. The lemonade was probably ok.

What if they had a food allergy and couldn't have the chicken salad? It could have happened. I tried to text. I tried to call. No response either way. So I just waited. Finally, I talked with the staff and we decided to go ahead with the substitution. It was either that or cancel the order.

Nobody wants their order cancelled when they are hungry. A simple text back or answer when I called could have gotten everything rolling nicely. It didn't happen. So finally I was on my way with the food that I hoped would be ok.

I got to the customer, and they met me at the door. They grabbed the food, and I told them I had to make those substitutions, and you know what? They didn't care. It didn't matter what I brought them. OK, that is nice, they were not picky, but you do realize if you responded, I could have had that food to you much faster.

That would have made both of us happy. So, if you place an order, please keep your phone near you and actually answer if we try to reach out.
