Road Rage Shooting on I-20 in Texas Leaves Louisiana Woman Dead
SHREVEPORT, LA - A road rage incident on I-20 in northeast Texas leaves a Louisiana woman dead. The incident happened earlier this week in Van Zandt County.
31-year-old Caitlin Elizabeth of Baton Rouge was shot and killed while she was a passenger in a car on the interstate. Deputies believe a truck driver opened fire on the car Elizabeth was in. She was hit in the face and was pronounced dead at the scene.
That truck driver, 46-year-old Jason Rashad Williams of Danville, Illinois is facing a series of charges today.
Elizabeth’s mother, Senta Holmes tells KLTV her daughter was a hair stylist in Baton Rouge.
My other daughter was calling me to tell me my daughter was shot in the face by a guy driving an 18-wheeler. And they said he was trailing them and they would go into one lane, he would go into the next. And they ended up beside each other and my daughter said ‘was there a problem?’ because they couldn’t get in front of him, they couldn’t pass him. And he just, when she said that, my other daughter said that she was getting the baby. My daughter-in-law was driving, and they had no clue that he was going to shoot her.
The other women and a baby in the car were not hurt.
Van Zandt County Sheriff Joe Carter, the shooting happened at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday just west of Canton, Texas.
The truck driver was caught near Tyler by a County Constable who heard the radio call. That driver claims someone in the car threw something at his truck. Williams is charged with murder and 3 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
