A coffee recall could have serious ramifications on "at-work" production across the Gulf South. Even though it gets pretty hot down here, we are one of the areas of the country where coffee consumption is through the roof. It's estimated that about two-thirds of all adults in Texas and Louisiana have at least one cup of coffee per day.
What Are The Official Coffees of Louisiana and Texas?
Chances are, if you brewed that cup at home in Texas, you might have brewed a pot of Seaport Coffee, the official coffee of the Lone Star State. In Louisiana, the tastes lean more toward Community Coffee as far as local in-state brew is concerned. If you're drinking those brands of coffee, by the way, you are good to go. There are no issues with Seaport or Community as far as coffee recalls go.

The area of concern for this coffee recall surrounds those single-serve coffee pods you might see in use around a Keurig-style coffee maker. The issue at hand has to do with the seal over the cups.
According to the FDA Press Release, the seal on the single-serve cups was not applied properly, and there is a concern that the ink used to print the label could run into the coffee when hot water and pressure are applied during the brewing process.
Which Coffee Pods Have Been Recalled by the FDA?
The recall is specific to coffee pods produced and sold by Pinon Coffee out of New Mexico. The coffee pods were sold nationwide at retailers such as Walmart, Target, Costco, and Kroger stores.
The recall is applicable to the 10-count New Mexico Pinon Coffee Dark Pinon Single Serve Cups that have the product number F03308, a UPC number of 812361033081. The product has a "best buy" date of May 8, 2026.
If you have some of the product in your home or office, you're encouraged to return the unused pods to the point of purchase for a refund or replacement. Or you may contact the company, New Mexico Pinon Coffee, by calling 505-298-1964.
