Struggling With Holiday Costs? These Midland-Odessa Events Can Help
As the holiday season approaches, Odessa families have something to look forward to once again. What is it?
How about a tradition built on generosity, community, and the belief that no one should go without a Thanksgiving meal?
Here are three major local initiatives worth spotlighting.

The Medina Law Firm Turkey Giveaway
The Medina Law Firm has officially announced its 8th Annual Turkey Giveaway, set for November 21, 2025, at 2651 Kermit Hwy in Odessa, beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing until all 1,000 turkeys are gone.
Community support makes a real difference in a year when food costs are higher than before the pandemic, with turkey prices still above pre-2020 averages, according to the USDA.
For the eighth year running, the Medina Law Firm is stepping up to fill that gap.
H-E-B's Feast of Sharing
Next up is a bigger-scale holiday meal effort: H-E-B’s Feast of Sharing.
This long-running tradition isn’t just happening in Midland-Odessa; it’s part of a massive statewide (and even cross-border) program.
During the Feast of Sharing, they have 34 festive dinners planned across Texas and Mexico.
H-E-B serves food, music, and holiday cheer to thousands of people, regardless of their ability to pay. Since launching the initiative in 1989, volunteers have helped serve more than five million meals, making it a cornerstone of the company’s Hunger Relief Program.
Cinergy's Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive
Finally, for those looking to give and have a little fun, Cinergy’s Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive is running now through November 30.
Guests who donate just four 12-ounce cans of food receive a $10 game card or a small popcorn, depending on the location.
The drive supports local food pantries across all of Cinergy’s communities.
This means every contribution helps make Thanksgiving a little brighter for someone in the Basin.
