El Paso’s Adventure Zone Has Closed
If you grew up in El Paso, chances are you’ve celebrated something at Adventure Zone. Whether it was a birthday party, a field trip, or a regular Friday night out with friends or the family! Adventure Zone was a cool place to go! Or maybe you never went to Adventure Zone but you sure do remember their classic commercial jingle reminding you “Adventure Zone, Where The Fun Is!"
I have fond memories of heading to Adventure Zone with my son when he was younger. He had his “I’m bored” moments and Adventure Zone was always a fun way to escape and have some fun in the arcades or mini golfing!
Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the Westside’s iconic family fun center has officially closed their doors.

Adventure Zone was more than an entertainments spot:
Located at 251 Redd Rd., Adventure Zone has been more than just an entertainment spot. It was a core memory for many locals. With sensory-friendly parties that made autistic kids feel included, unlimited rides and arcade games, it created magic for people of all ages!
A post shared to FitFam El Paso’s Instagram page confirming everyone’s worst fear!! Ok, I’m being dramatic but for some it was sad to see the post which read:
Confirmed: Adventure Zone, a staple of El Paso’s West Side for years, will be permanently closing its doors after 6:00 P.M. today.
Today being Monday, August 4th. *Cries in Spanish*
The closing of Adventure Zone was officially confirmed by J.R. Phillips, Owner of Adventure Zone. He spoke with mutliple local media outlets and when he was asked why he made the decision to close after being part of the community for over two, his answer to local news outlet, KVIA, was simple:
“It’s been a great run but sometimes when you own your own business your business owns you and after 23 years, I’m getting up their in age and it’s time for me to enjoy life a little bit."
What’s Going To Happen To Those Delicious Tacos?!
Adventure Zone was in fact known for their delicious and some may call them “legendary" McCrory's tacos. So the question remains: Will the taco recipe live on?
According to Phillips, they could:
“If someone would like to talk to me about the taco recipe, get in touch."

El Paso is losing more than a fun zone. We’re losing a piece of our childhood. Thanks for the memories, Adventure Zone.
