Kampus Books in Nacogdoches announced over the weekend via Facebook that they would be retiring and closing their store for good. If you were a student at SFA within the last 40 years, chances are good that you know about Kampus Books. For those of you not as familiar with them, they are located at 305 East College Street, right on the edge of the SFA campus.

In the Facebook post, they mentioned that they opened up for the first time in February of 1986, and that they will be retiring this year after four decades. Here's the Facebook post in its entirety:

How Will Kampus Books Closing Affect SFA Students

With the closing of Kampus Books, students will go from having three bookstore options, to two. The two remaining bookstores are Jack Backers College Bookstore - which is located next door to Kampus Books on East College - and the Barnes and Noble College bookstore located in the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the SFA campus.

And, of course, students will still be able to order from online stores, but there are too many of those to name.

Timeline of Kampus Books Closing

As of right now, there hasn't been an official date announced for when Kampus Books will be officially closing. They just mentioned that they will be selling off the rest of their merchandise "in the coming weeks". So, I assume that they will be open at least until after the spring graduation ceremonies in May. However, I can't say that with complete certainty.

What I do know is that this will be a definite change, not only for the SFA students, but for Nacogdoches as a whole. 40 years is a long time to be part of community, and it'll be different to not have them there after that amount of time.
