The annual VFW Fall Festival in Lufkin is traditionally one of the most well-attended carnivals in East Texas, drawing thousands upon thousands of thrill and fun seekers every year.  It is also the major fundraiser for the Lufkin VFW Post 1836.  However, last year's Fall Festival was cancelled due to the ongoing threat of COVID-19.  For that reason, this local VFW chapter had to figure out a way to fill that void of incoming funds which is used to assist area veterans.

So, with that in mind, you are invited to attend the first ever Buddy Poppy Extravaganza.  It's coming up Thursday, May 27 beginning at 6:30 pm at the VFW Post 1836 located at 1800 Ford Chapel Road in Lufkin. This banquet-style event will feature a delicious catered meal, live entertainment from the Steppin' Out band, live and silent auctions, balloon pop, and many other fun activities designed to raise money that will benefit local veterans in need.

An individual ticket is $30, or you can make it a date and save with a couples' ticket for $50, or purchase a VIP table for 8 for $300 and enjoy a reception with hors d'oeuvers in your honor immediately prior to the event. Tickets can be purchased online here.

This extravaganza coincides with the annual Buddy Poppy Drive. Through this Saturday, you are encouraged to stop by Lufkin area Brookshire Brothers locations, Walmart Supercenter in Lufkin or the Tractor Supply in Lufkin.  Get your buddy poppy and wear it proudly.  All proceeds will go directly to help veterans in our immediate area.
