Mark’s Rants – Bring Back Good Cartoons!

Yes, I'm an adult, but every now and then, you have to embrace your inner-child. How do I do that? I like to watch cartoons. But not current cartoons. I like to watch quality cartoons, ones that some would even call "vintage". You can't find ones like that today. I just want them brought back!

When I sit down to watch cartoons - which isn't very often - I prefer quality cartoons. Scooby Doo was always my favorite. But not the present-day ones. I'm talking about the original episodes where the "monsters" were just bad guys in costumes, and the "meddling kids" would set up a trap and catch them. There were no hidden curses or real monsters that would make an appearance to ruin all the plans.

When I get the chance, I also tune in to watch Pink Panther. Who says that you have to have dialogue to have a successful cartoon, or TV show in general? And, if you just HAD to have dialogue, The Inspector mini-series that was part of the Pink Panther half-hour was well worth watching.

Looney Tunes was another series that I'm a big fan of. Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Wile. E. Coyote, Roadrunner, Sylvester, Tweety, Foghorn Leghorn...I mean, the list goes on and on. And there was no worry about political correctness or worrying about the animals getting their feelings hurt. It was just good, clean, animated comedy.

And these are just a small number of cartoons that are entertaining, and that I consider quality animations. Yes, these were considered entertainment for a younger generation, but they can reach out and entertain adults as well. I'm a good example of this. Current-day cartoons are just goofy, in my opinion. Even remakes of the ones I mentioned earlier have missed the mark that the originals made.
