We have been without chicken salad sandwiches, chicken spaghetti, quiche, and almond tea for around four months. Don't worry, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

MarTeres Tea Room has announced that its reopening day is November 4th, 2021. They also announced that they will be taking reservations for that opening day very soon.

If you want to be one of the very first people back, keep your eyes peeled on the restaurant's Facebook page. They are also looking for kitchen staff, if you know someone interested let them know.

MarTeres has a new owner, Shan Mathis. When they do reopen she has vowed to continue serving the same great food.

Nothing will change, including the original tea room hours, just the way Lufkin and Hudson like it.

Back in 2019, Mar Teres made our list of restaurants that we would miss the most if they went away. There is much love for the restaurant still. Even though they have been closed, they have not been forgotten.

Customers have been waiting anxiously to find out what would happen. The withdrawals are real for many of their fans.

Hudson project celebration purse bingo had some almond tea on tap for those in attendance. To say that some were jealous is an understatement.

History

MarTeres opened its doors in April of 2002. Teresa and Margret poured their heart and soul into the restaurant.

Everyone loved their unique cuisine. They were only open Monday - Friday for lunch, which made it very exclusive and a tradition for many in Lufkin, Hudson, and the surrounding area.

They closed their doors for the last time Friday, June 18th of 2021, and thankfully this was not permanent.  We are all excited about a new chapter for the restaurant coming very soon.
