Megadeth Announce Summer Tour With Meshuggah; Dave Mustaine in Studio With Joey Jordison
Megadeth have put massive support behind their latest record, 2016's Dystopia. With a tour providing support for the Scorpions slated to start in September, Dave Mustaine and his crew are keeping busy as they've just announced a summer run with Meshuggah, Tesseract and Lillake! But wait, there's more! The Megadeth mainman was also working with Joey Jordison in the studio recently, presumably contributing to the new Vimic record in some capacity.
The tour (dates below) will kick off on June 23 in Big Flats, N.Y. and come to an end just over two weeks later in Pittsburgh, Pa. on July 11. The lone Canadian date will be the only stop not to feature the full touring package with just Megadeth and Meshuggah at the July 5th show in Ontario. Tickets will go on sale Friday, but those in the Cyber Army (Megadeth's fan club) can snatch their tickets early with a pre-sale starting tomorrow (April 19) at 10AM ET at this location.
In other news, Mustaine was recently in the studio with former Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison. The drummer's new band Vimic are expected to release their highly anticipated debut, Open Your Omen, this year. Vimic posted a photo from the studio on their Instagram page (seen below), captioning it, "A few final touches."
Dave Mustaine also posted a photo from the Nashville studio (seen below), where he is seen playing air guitar as Jordison holds a pair of air drum sticks as they're most likely hashing out a guest guitar solo. In early February, Vimic postponed a European tour, rescheduling it for late 2017 so the band could focus on the release of their debut record.
Megadeth also recently released the Megadeth Invasion video game, reminiscent of the classic arcade favorite, Space Invaders. Fans in the Cyber Army can compete for a chance to win Dystopia prizes and even a signature Kiko Loureiro guitar!
