Morrissey can be seen spoofing classic music TV shows such as American Bandstand in his video for “Jacky’s Only Happy When She’s Up on the Stage,” the latest single from his solo album Low in High School. Watch it above.

Before the release of the follow-up to 2014’s World Peace is None of Your Business, the former Smiths frontman outlined the themes he’d explored in his latest batch of songs. “My concern wanders to anyone feeling academically or spiritually low in high school … directionless or hopeless,” he said. “Can young people ever be carefree again? It’s a question.” Asked if there was a common thread running through the LP he said: “Yes, a rage in the blood, plus endless hooks… Is that enough?”

Morrissey last week insisted he’d taken part in his last-ever print media interview after comments he made about the Hollywood sexual misconduct scandals were circulated, in which he appeared to reveal some sympathy for actor Kevin Spacey and producer Harvey Weinstein, saying the situation had become “a play” which triggered an angry response from some quarters.

Speaking after the quotes had reached the public, he told a crowd in Chicago, “I did an interview a couple of weeks ago for a German newspaper and, of course, let me just say this: That was the last print interview I will ever do. Unless you see the words form in my mouth and then you see or hear the words come out of my mouth… please, if you don’t see that, I didn’t say them.”

Morrissey’s U.S. tour in support of Low in High School ends on Dec. 7.
