Petsense Closures Announced, But Nacogdoches Location Status Still Unclear

Most people, especially in the Deep East Texas area, are pretty familiar with Tractor Supply stores. We have their stores all over our region. What lots of people might not realize is that Tractor Supply also owns and operates Petsense stores. We have exactly one of those in Deep East Texas, and it's in Nacogdoches. The closest one after that one is in Palestine. A recent announcement from Tractor Supply is making some of us wonder if we'll have even less than that soon...

Tractor Supply Announces Closure of Multiple Petsense Locations

According to a press release from Tractor Supply on July 23rd, there is a "planned closure of approximately 75 Petsense stores." Now, to put that number in perspective, if you go to the Petsense website use their store locator tool, you'll find that there are 209 of the stores currently in operation. That means that if they close 75 of them, they will be closing down more than one third of the total number of Petsense stores.

So, the question becomes, "Is Nacogdoches on that list of closures?" There was no list of closing Petsense locations in the press release that I mentioned above, and I can't find any definitive list anywhere else of store locations, so I can only wonder if Nacogdoches is on the list or not. I don't know how well the store does, as far as performance goes.

I do know that whenever I've gone in, there have been customers and the store has been well-maintained - in my opinion - so it looks like it's doing alright. But again, that's only my opinion, and I could be wrong.
