Nacogdoches Walmart Planning Major Renovation Starting January 2027

When it comes to Walmart, most people either love it or hate it. Usually, there's no middle ground. Based on a newly registered project, we're about to see just how much the people of Nacogdoches love it or hate it. According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration website, a new renovation/alteration project was registered on September 9th for the Walmart Supercenter in Nacogdoches.

Nacogdoches Walmart Renovation Details

This project looks to be a fairly large one, based on the description of work that was detailed on the TDLR website. The scope of work includes new checkout area finishes, digital displays, an expansion of the in-house pharmacy, adding a new family restroom, updates related to the auto center, adding more refrigerated cases, and putting in new RTUs - from my time in construction, I'm thinking they're referring to HVAC rooftop units; However, they could be referring to something COMPLETELY different.

It also includes a relocation of the online pickup area. Currently, the pickup area is located in the parking lot on the southside of the building. I'm not sure where they would be relocating it to, but I'm curious to see.

Will Drone Delivery be an Option in Nacogdoches?

I'm also curious to see if the Nacogdoches Walmart will look into getting a drone-delivery service like we've seen some of the other supercenters do. Nothing in the scope of work looks like it would include that as of right now, but I'm still curious and somewhat hopeful.

All in all, the estimated cost for this major project is over $3.5 million. The start date is listed as January 24, 2027, with a completion date of May 13, 2027. If you're not a fan of Walmart already, I would suggest avoiding it completely from January 2027 until June 2027. However, if you're a fan of construction progress, this should be a treat for you.
