People Are Always Forgetting This At Austin And Raguet…
We waited a long time for the completion of Austin Street in Nacogdoches. If you aren't from Nacogdoches, then there's a good chance that you don't understand...We waited A LONG time for that to happen. And, we're quite pleased that it's now done.
However, there is now another problem that has come about since it reopened...
That intersection used to be a four-way stop. Now, there's a traffic light. But that brings a problem with it. There are lots of people that are still treating that intersection like a four-way stop. The come to a stop, they wait half a second, then proceed on - even if the light is red.
I understand that it was a four-way stop for years, so lots of people treat it like that out of habit. But, it's no longer a four-way stop.
I was stopped at the light the other day and a car pulled up next to me. Then, they went on, even though it was red. That driver almost got t-boned by another driver that was moving forward correctly, on the green light.
That wasn't the only time I've seen that happen. It seems like almost every time I pull up to the intersection, I see this exact same thing take place. So, here's your reminder: The intersection of Raguet Street and Austin Street is no longer a four-way stop. Pay attention to the traffic light.
Let's go over that again, both parts:
- THE INTERSECTION OF RAGUET STREET AND AUSTIN STREET IS NO LONGER A FOUR-WAY STOP.
- PAY ATTENTION TO THE TRAFFIC LIGHT.
That's it. Super simple. Remember those things, and you'll do just fine.
Oh, and watch out for the other drivers that aren't paying attention.
