We haven’t seen the last of ‘Transformers,’ or any of Hasbro’s other properties on the big screen. The toy company has now struck up a new deal with Paramount.
This past weekend, Hasbro's biggest brands gathered in Providence, Rhode Island for the first ever HasCon, and gave fans a much more intimate and personal glimpse at what the future of Star Wars toys held. While there weren't many new reveals on display, thanks in large to Hasbro just releasing a bevvy of new Star Wars toys at the start of the month, there was still plenty of love for the Black Series, Forces of Destiny, and everything in between.
While his appearance in The Force Awakens was basically a cameo, fans have been clamoring for a new Luke Skywalker action figure to join the rest of the cast from the current trilogy. For more than two years, the Jedi knight has remained in seclusion on Acht-To, but this weekend at San Diego Comic-Con, Hasbro will finally deliver Luke. Along with a new Jedi-in-training Rey, Luke will be part of The Last Jedi exclusive offered at this year’s convention.
With more than 160 figures currently available or in development, Hasbro's Star Wars Black Series has given fans from all eras of the saga action figures to properly decorate a home. Though Toy Fair was just a few short months ago, there weren't many updates for the Black Series on hand. Turns out, Hasbro was just keeping its secrets for Star Wars Celebration. At the show, new figures and vehicles were shown off for the very first time, offering a glimpse into the year ahead for Star Wars Black.
For all that Star Wars has done for the action figure market since the 1970s, it hasn't quite had the same presence in the doll arena. While there have certainly been attempts to make some headway in that world, Star Wars has seemingly been content to rule the pegs in other aisles. As if the brand new character posters released on Friday weren’t enough, LionsGate has also given us our first theatrical trailer for the movie, giving us some background on the assembly of the current Power Rangers team — and one quick look at Elizabeth Banks’ Rita Repulsa as well.
