Johnny Manziel is an East Texas boy, born December 6th 1992 in Tyler.  And then of course he had the great high school football career in the Hill Country at Kerrville Tivy High, and then came back to East Texas to get everybody's attention as the Texas A&M QB and win the Heisman.  Think he'll be an NFL star?

Texas A&M plays Rice this Saturday in the season opener, and the school released a statement this week saying that's where the focus is - on football, and not on things happening off the field with quarterback Johnny Manziel.

The Heisman Trophy is the most prestigious honor that a single college football player can receive, and this Saturday we'll find out if Tyler native Johnny Manziel wins it. Even Texas Longhorn fans might admit that Manziel has had a pretty great season with the Texas A&M Aggies.
