There are only two times a year that we are offered the opportunity to pick up some amazing plants from Stephen F. Austin State University's SFA Gardens. This is one of those times.

The Garden Gala Day Spring Plant Sale is this weekend - Saturday, April 9th, 2022 and Sunday, April 10th, 2022 9 am - 2 pm. It will be beautiful weather for the sale, even if a little windy.

Being outside with some of the most beautiful, hearty plants you could ever see will put you in the mood to buy. The sale will feature a huge variety of hard-to-find, "Texas tough" plants grown by the staff and volunteers at the SFA Gardens.

I Kill Plants And I Still Have One From 2019

The best thing about this sale is the fact that they don't just sell anything. They only feature plants that will thrive in our Deep East Texas climate.

I had a pair of plants from the 2019 sale, and I only managed to kill one of them. I took the other out of the pot and just replanted it in my garden a few months ago.

Now it is thriving again and already blooming. I have cut it back multiple times and it just keeps growing. Plants that are meant to be here do so much better, and this sale takes the guesswork out of it.
