"Let's rock"! It's a simple mission statement that also serves as the title to the Black Keys next album. By the feel of the new song "Eagle Birds" the duo just released, it sounds like they're doing a solid job of living up to the album title's promise.

With Dan Auerbach's heavier '70s-sounding guitar licks and a swinging catchy beat from drummer Patrick Carney, "Eagle Birds" sounds like a cinch for some solid rock radio airplay. It's the second single to come from their forthcoming album, following on the heels of the current rock radio staple, "Lo/Hi." Take a listen to the song in the player toward the bottom of this post.

With the new song comes a whole bunch of other details about the highly anticipated album return of Dan and Patrick. "Let's Rock" is now on track for a June 28 street date via Easy Eye Sound / Nonesuch Records. The album's artwork and track listing can be seen below.

Having taken some time off to pursue other projects in recent years, it's now been a five-year stretch since Turn Blue dropped back in 2014. “When we’re together we are the Black Keys," says Auerbach. "That’s where that real magic is, and always has been since we were 16.”

Carney says of the album, “The record is like a homage to electric guitar. We took a simple approach and trimmed all the fat like we used to." Indeed, the album is more guitar-centric and less experimental than Turn Blue, which saw the band expand their musical palette.
