Reception of drones has been pretty mixed among the general public, but this new sport of the future might tip the scales, and have everyone wanting to get their hands on one of these bad boys.

These videos come from the Drone Racing League. The DRL drone pilots are experts in their craft, flying quad copters as fast as 60 miles per hour with a special headset that gives each pilot a first person view of the action. It's enough to make anyone get motion sickness.

The epic courses they are designing will most likely end up having obstacles for the drones to not only maneuver around, but also straight through. Here's a promo video of a race that will be taking place in July inside of an abandoned power station near the Hudson River in New York.

The Drone Racing League has plans for six races scattered across the United States. It will be interesting to see what all they have in store for 2016 and on.

This last video isn't part of the DRL promo clips, but reminds us of the speeder bike scenes in "Return of the Jedi".

It also should be noted that none of the drones you've just seen are available for commercial purchase. There is a vast community of people that build and mod quad copters from the ground up. If you were to spend $100 on a toy quad copter, it wouldn't stand a chance in these races.
