Tool busted out "Undertow" live for the first time in 20 years last Thursday (March 3) at their concert at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. The post-metal icons are now on tour in the United States before heading to Europe for several dates in April and May.

"Undertow" is the title track from Tool's 1993 debut album. The last time it was performed publicly by the band was on April 29, 2002, almost exactly two decades ago, according to the concert database Setlist.fm.

The current leg of the Tool's ongoing tour behind 2019's Fear Inoculum kicked off in January. The group had been off the road over a year since canceling concerts in March 2020 due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Tool singer Maynard James Keenan battled the virus twice in the past two years.

Elsewhere amid this run, Tool stopped a performance after a fan collapsed. The band started selling a Fear Inoculum box set that will be made widely available next month. Keenan also fruitlessly played the game Jenga onstage behind Danny Carey's drum kit.

In January, Tool gave Fear Inoculum's "Culling Voices" its live debut. Around the same time, they performed 10,000 Days' "Right in Two" for the first time in a decade.
