St. Luke's Health-Memorial Lufkin is inviting the public to the first-ever Walk with a Doc event. This could very well be your first step to living healthier and living longer.

Making the time to have a daily walk, or at least walk several times a week, is good for your health in so many ways.

To name a few positives:

  • Good for your heart
  • Increases lung capacity
  • Boost weight loss
  • Helps immunity
  • Decreases diabetic risk
  • Lowers blood pressure

To encourage you to take this first healthy step and to take charge of your health, St. Luke's Health-Memorial has introduced this program in which you actually get to walk with a doc including Dr. Ravinder Bachireddy, M.D., FACC, and Chief of Cardiology for St. Luke’s Health-Memorial Lufkin.

You'll get to enjoy an invigorating walk with Dr. Bachireddy and other healthcare professionals. These experts will be available to support participants and answer questions during the walk.

This is such an outstanding opportunity to burn some calories and get answers to questions from some of the leading heart care experts in the nation. This first Walk with a Doc will take place from 8:30 - 9:30, Saturday morning, August 27 at Ellen Trout Park at 402 Zoo Circle Drive in Lufkin. Walkers will meet at the pavilion near the pier.

Walk with a Doc Texas is overseen by a national non-profit organization to help people get active and healthy. It is backed by the Texas Medical Association (TMA) in Texas. This is a free program, recurring monthly every third Saturday, and is available to the public. Residents of all ages are encouraged to attend. Pre-registration is not required.

For information about future walks check the St. Luke’s Health-Memorial Facebook page and the Walk with a Doc Texas website.
