Remember when maps used to be on paper and not on your smart phone?

A paper map discovered recently after it had been stuffed into a library book turns out to be worth four figures.  It was traced to 1844, and was created by the US War Department, with is now the Department of Defense.

The map of the state of Texas was found inside a library book in Stillwater, and Oklahoma State academics don't know how it got there or where it came from.  It was drafted during a time when Texas stretched north to include parts of Colorado and Kansas, and carries a value of about $8000 because of the historical factor, and it's still in good shape.

Will the digital maps we use today ever be worth eight grand?  We highly doubt it.
