For the second time in just over a month, we as Americans find ourselves in another tragic place.

This time, it was right here in our home state of Texas. A gunman from New Braunfels traveled to the small town of Sutherland Springs, where he proceeded to open fire on First Baptist Church Sutherland Springs. Almost 30 people were killed, and over 20 more were wounded.

This shooting right here in Texas follows closely behind the Las Vegas Massacre, where another shooter opened fire during a Jason Aldean concert last month, killing over 50 concertgoers.

Both of these, this close together, are some of the most deadly acts on American soil in a long time.

We want to open this up for discussion. What are your thoughts on either one of these? Did you know someone who was directly affected by these thoughtless acts of terrorism? Was there something else that could have been done to prevent this?

In my opinion, both of these shootings are pure evil. Even though both suspects were American citizens, I consider them both terrorists. I'm actually quite glad that there were a couple of armed citizens in the Sutherland Springs shooting that proceeded to go after the gunman. They put themselves in harm's way to go after him, so that no one else would be hurt. I think they should be commended.

And one thing I know is this: The people of Sutherland Springs and Las Vegas will rise from this. They'll have the scars to show for it, but they will pull together. And we can help them. Prayers and words of encouragement go a lot further than we generally give them credit for.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Sutherland Springs, just as they continue to go out for those affected in Las Vegas.

Tom Petty said it best, "I'll keep this world from draggin' me down, gonna stand my ground. And I won't back down."
