After two New York City police officers were shot and killed December 20th, a Tyler girl became inspired to write 500 thank you notes to police officers to show appreciation for all they do. And yesterday, she got to meet some of her heroes.

Savannah Solis traveled from Tyler to New York City this week to see the precincts of the New York City officers that were killed five days before Christmas.  Detectives Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos were shot in their patrol car on Dec. 20.

Sometime after that 10-year old Savannah became so moved by the story that she wrote 200 thank you cards for New York officers, and 300 for officers around Texas. The Associated Press says she's already visited officers here, and had the chance yesterday to meet NYPD officers and perhaps even the widows of the two officers who were killed.

ABC News quotes Savannah at the ceremony honoring her.  "To my heroes, I want to say, 'Don't stop. Please don't give up.  Many do not care or appreciate the sacrifices you make every day, but I do."

What a great kid!  Think Savannah will grow up to pursue a career in law enforcement? No matter what, she's already making East Texas proud.
