Andrew W.K. Plays ‘Wikipedia: Fact or Fiction?’
When it’s time to party, we will party hard! Andrew W.K. is our special guest on ‘Wikipedia: Fact or Fiction?’ this week, and the rock and roll powerhouse sat down with us to confirm or deny what’s written about him online.
Though it’s true Andrew W.K. moved from Michigan to New York City in 1998, Wikipedia isn't entirely correct about what he did to pay the bills when he got there. Andrew wasn’t a waiter or parking attendant in the Big Apple; rather, he made money as a bubblegum machine salesman. Once his momentum as a salesman died down, he struggled until he hit it big with I Get Wet.
Speaking of W.K.’s debut album, Andrew cleared up how he achieved the bloody nose effect on its cover. Though Andrew didn’t repeatedly bash himself in the face with a brick, he did try to bloody himself up with a piece of a cinder block. Not getting the blood flowing like he’d hoped, Andrew went for Plan B, and moseyed on down to a local butcher shop.
Wikipedia currently shows that Andrew has a total of seven unreleased albums in his personal vault, from a 1998 record called Necronomicon, to a 2013 effort entitled Raucous. Andrew dispelled this myth, but he did claim that he does have an infinite amount of unreleased albums “in the vault of the future.”
