Let me be extremely forthright.  Still have an old-fashioned "paper" calendar hanging on the fridge.  By the end of the month, it looks as though it was attacked by a 5 year old learning how to fingerpaint.  That being said, happened to notice (as I do each year) that itty bitty print at the bottom of the number "27"; and today - is Arbor Day!

WHAT day is it?  For the first time in my life I now know that Arbor Day is a holiday in which individuals and groups are encouraged to plant - Trees.  And, this holiday is rich in history since it dates back to 1872!

I'm trying to figure out why a 140 year old holiday isn't getting me a day off work.

By the way, if you have a child aged 2 to 12, take them over to Grace Dunn Park  (200 Mott Drive) today between 5-6:30 p.m.  The cost is $2 for tree seedlings, BUT you will need to register at the City of Lufkin Parks & Recreation Department prior to arriving at the event.

"Tree" you later!
