Well, they weren’t going to have a Young Sheldon without at least giving the old Sheldon a proper sendoff. The Big Bang Theory is officially confirmed for a whopping forty-eight more episodes with a two-season renewal, but will it be their last?

Following prolonged contract negotiations with the cast, CBS confirms The Big Bang Theory will return for Seasons 11 and 12, each comprised of twenty-four episodes. Lead actors Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar have all settled their new contracts, with Entertainment Weekly reporting Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik close to signing as well. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the five main stars took $100,000 pay cuts to provide raises for Rauch and Bialik.

For the moment, there are no specific plans to end The Big Bang Theory with Season 12 in 2019. At the very least, the series is expected to be paired on weeknights with the Young Sheldon prequel spinoff, which features Big Little Lies star Iain Armitage as the nine-year-old future physicist attending high school, in a pilot directed by Jon Favreau.

In the meantime, Season 10 of The Big Bang Theory continues on CBS Thursday nights.
