Meet Marcus Porter, This Week’s Community Rockstar

This week is July 4th, and due to the holiday weekend, we're changing the schedule up just a bit and featuring our Community Rockstar on Thursday instead of Friday. But we're super pumped to announce this week's rockstar that's going above and beyond to make Deep East Texas even better!

This Week's Community Rockstar is Marcus Porter

The Deep East Texas Community Rockstar for this week is Marcus Porter! Marcus works as the Development and Partnership Director for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Deep East Texas.

According to the nomination that was submitted to us here at the station, "Marcus works non-stop traveling to each of our Deep East Texas communities building connections with other forces in the community to bring opportunities to youth across East Texas." They went on to say that, "He sees to it that every child feels welcome, accepted, and has a place they are excited to come to. He is passionate in building programs that will create a lasting impact on the youth in our community."

To wrap it up, the nominator ended with this: "Marcus goes above and beyond for our youth, our community, and for our Boys and Girls Club team." And that - the work that he is doing not just for the youth, but for the Deep East Texas community as a whole - is the reason why Marcus Porter is this week's Community Rockstar. With that title, he'll be receiving a framed certificate from all of us here at Classic Rock Q107 and Zion Auto Glass. He'll also be receiving a gift certificate to Lone Star Charlie's in Lufkin.
