Do I want lower gas prices? Of course I do. You will never, ever hear me saying that gas prices need to go higher. However, I found out this weekend that I'm thankful for our gas prices being as low as they are, even when compared to other places in Texas.
Current Gas Prices in Deep East Texas
Currently, the cheapest price that I've seen for gas in Deep East Texas on my regular commute is $3.27, and that is at the Walmart location on University Drive in Nacogdoches. I've seen it a bit more expensive, but for the most part the prices are consistently under the $3.50.
Now, don't get me wrong, that still stings a bit as you fill up your tank. If my tank isn't running on empty, it's somewhere between the $70 and $80 mark to fill up.
Gas Prices Outside of Deep East Texas
This weekend we did a little bit of traveling. Mind you, it wasn't some long road trip that took all day to get to our location, and another entire day to travel back. This trip was just to go south of Dallas, spend some time with family and come back. Simple enough, right?

Well, I stopped in Corsicana to get gas and found that the price per gallon there was $3.99. That's when I discovered that filling up there was between $90 and $100 was the price to pay. That stings quite a bit more than our Deep East Texas prices...
I say all that to say this: Yes, our prices aren't ideal. However, they could be worse. Remember that.
