Rumors and conjecture are swirling about Chick-Fil-A, and their future in Lufkin. There are actually two different rumors at this time. The first one revolves around a current Chick-Fil-A location at the Lufkin Mall. There is talk about that location closing.

I noticed yesterday the tent was up for drive thru business, but there was no one in line when I drove by. Of course every time I drive by the other location, it's packed with its double lanes of efficiency.  The larger foot print of the restaurant right across the street has to really cut into the location at the Lufkin Mall's business.

The second rumor is that they will be opening another location on Frank. Back when stand alone ER's were popping up all over town, this one was made and left unoccupied. The building itself seems a little large for a Chick-fil-A, but it could be converted into a large dine in location. I don't know if Chick-fil-A ever repurposes buildings, but that could be a great location for them with it's proximity to Hudson.  It must be a great location with McDonalds, Whataburger, and Jack in the Box all doing good business in the same area.

I could see where they might close the one in the mall. I am sure due to Covid-19 their walk in restaurant business is suffering. The volume of business that they do right across the street is staggering, and I think one more location would be welcome.

These are all just rumors, but we were rumored to get a Raising Cain's and McAllister's Deli and they are both here now. Something I thought would never happen.
