Gene Simmons and Ace Frehley’s Australian tour includes a number of songs Kiss have never or rarely played live, set lists have revealed. The shows also see the former colleagues performing together, and opportunities for those who’d bought Simmons’s Vault box set to hit the stage and join in.

Frehley’s performance included “Rocket Ride” and “Hard Times,” which Kiss never played on tour, and “Strange Ways,” which they’ve played only five times. Simmons delivered “She’s So European” – adjusted to “She’s So Australian” – a song never performed by Kiss, along with rarities “Almost Human,” “Charisma,” “Love Theme from Kiss” and “I”.

Introducing Frehley to the stage, Simmons retold the story of how the guitarist had come to join Kiss, saying: “Before you were born, we were trying to put together the band we never saw on stage. We were holding auditions and stuff and a guy walks in with orange sneakers and red sneakers, and he’s plugged in while this other guitar player was trying out, oblivious to the fact that we’re talking to the guy. He didn’t give a fuck – and that’s rock and roll.”

Guest appearances came from Australian singer Amy Lehpamer on “I Was Made for Lovin’ You” and members of the School of Rock stage show cast on “Calling Dr. Love,” while some of Simmons’s customers took part in “Rock and Roll All Nite.”
