There Is a Full-Grown Giraffe Missing in the Texas Hill Country Right Now

Everyone has heard the saying, "Everything is bigger in Texas." That includes missing items. This week, however, there was one missing item that took even me by surprise.

Gracie the Giraffe Went Missing from a Hill Country Ranch

About a week and a half ago, a giraffe went missing in Texas. No, I'm not talking about some kid's stuffed animal that they lost on the family camping trip. I'm talking about a full-grown, long-necked, furry giraffe, like you would see at the zoo. I had trouble believing that this was an actual legitimate story, until I saw it on all sorts of news outlets, including an article from the New York Times.

Apparently, Gracie the Giraffe was last seen on a game camera after going missing from the Cedar Hollow Ranch in Leakey, out in the Hill Country, almost two weeks ago. So now, I have multiple questions:

1. How does a giraffe go "missing"...?
2. Would someone steal a full-grown giraffe...?
3. Is question #2 even possible...?
4. How can you not have any legitimate sightings of the giraffe for one day, let alone two weeks...?

Gracie is Still Missing as of June 24th

I know that Texas is big. It's massive. However, when you have something the size of a giraffe, and you have multiple entities looking for it, you would think someone would have something to report on, right? Add in the fact that a $5,000 reward has been offered, and I would think that we'd get even quicker results.

However, according to an article from USA Today that was updated around 3:30 PM today, the giraffe still remains missing. I don't know how fast and far giraffes can travel, but there's no telling where Gracie might be now. Texans, keep your eyes open for the giraffe!
