There are tons of athletes across the world right now that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of social distance protocols, everyone from little league up through the professional level has been forced to postpone - if not cancel - their chosen sports. We just received a notice the other day that the Summer Olympics for 2020 have been postponed until 2021. Other than a few free agency, office-level stories, sports channels have resorted to showing reruns of past games.

However, there are some bright spots in the middle of this sports drought. Lots of athletes of all ages have taken to social media, and they've gotten pretty creative about how they are practicing their social distancing skills.

One creative video actually came from right here in Deep East Texas. This was a Facebook video of the Hemphill High School Hornets baseball team from Mrs. Lisa Ratcliff:

As you can see, even though the team can't physically meet and compete together, which I know is difficult, they're still having a good time as a team online. The coach even got in on the fun! It's not the same as being on the diamond, the field, the court, etc., but it's still encouraging, and it brings a smile or two out in the middle of all of this craziness.

And yes, they are practicing social distance protocols.
