Well, as of yesterday, baseball is officially back! The MLB Opening Day has come and gone, signaling the beginning of the 2026 season. However, for those of us in Texas, even here in Deep East Texas, the opening day wasn't great for our teams...

Rangers and Astros Both Lose Opening Day Games

We have a couple of different options for Texas teams - the Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros. For the opening day, the Rangers were playing the Philadelphia Phillies, while the Astros were taking on the Los Angeles Angels. Exciting stuff, right?

Well, BOTH Texas teams came up short. The Rangers lost 5-3 and the Astros were shut out 3-0. That's not exactly the season opener that we were hoping for around here.

What Does This Mean for the Texas Teams in the 2026 Season?

While it's not a good look to lose game number one, this doesn't necessarily mean much as far as season outlooks go. I mean, each team in the MLB plays 162 games over the next six-ish months. One game isn't the end of the world. But again, losing game one - BOTH Texas teams losing game one - doesn't make me feel great.

However, I'm still going to support my team. Which team is my choice, you ask? Well, my pick is the Texas Rangers. I'll support them regardless. There have been good seasons and bad, and this one is no different. I look forward to the 2026 season. Based on a recent question that we put up on Facebook, I'm in the minority. Most of the fans around here choose Houston as their favorite. No judgement here, that's just not my pick. What about you? Which team gets your vote? And, while we're asking questions, how is your team going to do in 2026? Just curious.

Oh, one more thing...GO RANGERS!!!
