The National Weather Service has issued a Hurricane Warning until further notice for several counties in the Pineywoods.  Included in the warned area are Polk, Tyler, Jasper, and Newton Counties. This includes the cities of Livingston, Woodville, Jasper, Corrigan, Colmesneil, and Newton. A Hurricane Warning means that hurricane force winds (greater than 74mph) are expected within the warned area within 48 hours of the issuance of the warning.

A tropical storm warning has also been issued for Trinity and Houston Counties.  This means that tropical storm force winds (greater than 39 and up to 74 mph) are expected within the warned area within 48 hours of the issuance of the warning.

As of this times (11 am, 8/25), other Deep East Texas counties including Angelina and Nacogdoches are NOT under any watches or warnings.  However, given the predicted track and strength of Hurricane Laura, that will probably change soon.
