Jack-of-All-Trades: This SFA Professor is Doing All of the Things
When you think of college professors, you tend to think of them as only being professors. You don't think of them as having much life outside of academia. I'm not saying that as a dig on professors. When you consider having to set up classes for hundreds of students, build presentations, create and grade exams, read students' papers, research, publish, eat and sleep, it doesn't seem like it would leave a lot of time for non-work-related activities, right?
However, lots of those professors DO have lives outside the world of academia. I know that there's at least one of those professors at Stephen F. Austin State University. He's kind of become a "jack-of-all-trades" (Notice the SFA Lumberjack reference???).
Dr. Hunter Hampton, Associate Professor of History at SFA...
Dr. Hunter Hampton is an Associate Professor of History at SFA, under the College of Liberal and Applied Arts. That's his career, what he does for a job. But like I mentioned before, Dr. Hampton isn't JUST a history professor.

When you look at his career, then you add the hobbies and interests in, that's where the "jack-of-all-trades" part kicks in.
...Lots of Other Titles Outside of SFA
For one thing, he and his wife operate their own pizza pop-up in Nacogdoches. And the title is appropriate: Prof's Pizza. Just for fun, each time he opens up, he features something new. He's had breakfast pizza, deep-dish, stuffed crust...he's even added purple potatoes, just for SFA spirit! Don't sell him short though, he's also a wiz in the kitchen (or on the grill) with things other than pizza. Prof's Pizza is the only "official" food craft.
Once he steps outside the kitchen, there's more impressive things going on. He's recently become a published author. Dr. Hampton has been working on "The Gridiron Gospel: Faith and College Football in Twentieth-Century America". It was published in 2025 and is available to purchase now.

Then, as if being a chef and author wasn't enough, he also finds time to hit the gym - specifically, crossfit. That's enough to get my respect right there. I don't find myself in a gym regularly, so crossfit is definitely not in my wheelhouse. This guy does crossfit IN ADDITION to all the other things...
His Biggest Job
I could go on about even more things as well - he goes hiking, hunting, fishing, grilling...but above all of that, he's also a full-time husband and dad. He'd probably tell you that those two titles are the main two out of everything else, and I'd have to say that I agree with him.
So, by being a family man, professor, author, chef, outdoorsman, (insert even more titles here), I think that most of you would agree that Dr. Hunter Hampton really has made himself a "Jack-of-all-Trades".
