There's no doubt that President Weaver has fully committed to his position at Stephen F. Austin State University. We're seeing record enrollment, plans for growth coming to fruition, and more. He's also giving students the chance to win scholarships...pretty big prizes, actually.

President Weaver's Jackpot Jumper

This year, at the SFA home games, there was a new event presented. It was called President Weaver's Jackpot Jumper. Students could sign up via the SFA Jacks Athletic App for the chance to participate. One student was chosen per game. If chosen, the student could make the choice to shoot a three-point shot or a half-court shot for the chance to win scholarship money. If they made the three-pointer, they would receive $500. If they made the half-court shot, they would receive $5,000.

The only stipulations were that the student had to be in attendance at the game - duh - and that they had to be a current SFA student, active in classes. Pretty straightforward, right?

Several Scholarships Have Already Been Won

The Jackpot Jumper was announced on the SFA Athletics Facebook Page with a video from Dr. Weaver himself on January 21st. Since then - in less than a month - there have been three winners. Two half-court shots have been made, and one three-point shot has been made. That's over $10,000 in scholarships! Here's the latest video:

Obviously, this Lumberjack was ecstatic. I know that I would be!

So, bottom line is this: President Weaver is making awesome things happen during his time at SFA, and the students are really benefitting from all of it. The other thing is this: If you have a student at SFA, or if you just know of a student, you should tell them to sign up for President Weaver's Jackpot Jumper. There aren't that many home games left this season!
