January Is Divorce Month

June may be a big month for weddings, and December may be a big month for quiet, happy moments with family, but the experts say be very leery of January. That’s Divorce Month.

The buzz of the holidays apparently wear off by that point and couples are looking for a fresh start. After exhausting all of their options and putting on a brave face for relatives around the holidays, they decide to go ahead and file for divorce in January.

MSN says some attorneys even take the last two weeks of the year off to prepare for the onslaught of divorce filings that they know will come their way at the first of the year.

The Huffington Post reminds us of several celebrity couples that ended their marriages between November and January. The list includes Russell Brand and Katy Perry, Eva Longoria and Tony Parker, and Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore. Sometimes the holidays aren’t as warm and fuzzy as they appear.
