There has been a lot to brag about recently when it comes to the band program at Lufkin High School. Just a few days ago, the Lufkin Panther Marching Band brought home the state championship in the UIL State Military Marching Band competition. Now, you'll get a chance to see this award-winning band at the annual Honor America Night in Lufkin.

This event salutes our local veterans and active members of the U.S. Armed Forces. This year’s event will include performances by all grade levels of the Lufkin Middle School band, as well as music and marching from the Lufkin High School band. Honor America Night will take place Saturday, November 6 at Abe Martin Stadium, located on the campus of Lufkin High School, 309 South Medford Drive.  The gates to the stadium will open at 6 pm, the show will begin at 7 pm.

Tickets are $5 and can be ordered from any Lufkin Middle School or High School band student.  They can also be purchased at the LHS band office or purchased at the gate on the night of the show.

The program will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display sponsored by A Pineywoods Home Health.

“Honor America Night is our way of recognizing and thanking our veterans for their service to our country,” Band Director George Little said. “Our students love to perform at the event and we are happy to honor our veterans.”

Forecasters are predicting a beautiful Fall night for the event. Temperatures are expected to be in the 50s and 60s during the show. Anyone with questions concerning this year's Honor America Night is welcome to call the Lufkin High School band office at 936-630-4353.

Speaking of patriotism, here's a look at some of the students from Groveton High School honoring Veterans at their event in 2020.
