The IRS has started accepting income tax returns, so your big fat refund is not far off!  We hope you're not one of the unlucky souls that has to pay.

Regardless, if you need help with your income taxes this year, there's free assistance through Goodwill's Tax Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.  The volunteers at the Lufkin location have already started putting pencil to paper to help us with our returns.

KTRE ran a story this week that said about thirty people showed up for help on the first day the IRS started accepting returns, and the whole process usually takes between 30 and 45 minutes.

If you're low to moderate income and you need help now, Goodwill's free tax services are available from Noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to Noon Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.  They'll be offering free help all the way through April 15.  Just take all the necessary papers, plus your ID, and let them take the stress out of figuring out all the new tax laws.

Just go to the Goodwill office at 301 Hill Street in Lufkin.
