It’s Time to Talk About a Matthew McConaughey Visit to Nacogdoches

It's always pretty cool to have a celebrity come through your town. Every now and then they stop in Nacogdoches. Some are music artists, coming through to play Banita Creek Hall or an event at Stephen F. Austin State University. Some are actors coming through for various reasons - Iron E. Singleton coming through for Geeks, Games & Gadgets in 2015 (there's a throwback for you...), Dennis Quaid - who will be coming through for the SFA Distinguished Lecture Series in April. And then there are all other kinds of celebrities that have come through for other reasons - Tony Hawk, the Property Brothers, etc.

However, there's one celebrity that I'm still waiting on to make his first visit to the Oldest Town in Texas. There's one guy that hasn't stopped in Nac to visit. That guy is Matthew McConaughey.

Nacogdoches Now Has a Stronger Case to Get Him to Come Visit

There are lots of reasons why Matthew McConaughey should visit Nacogdoches. The culture, the food locations, the Texas Friendly Music Community scene, the ambiance of the Garden Capital...and the list goes on. Geez, you could even make the argument that he should visit just because of the proximity to Carthage, the town that the movie "Bernie" was based in, where he played a district attorney.

Those are all good, but now there's an even bigger reason that could be used to get him here. As most people know, Matthew McConaughey is a HUGE University of Texas fan. Every year I see multiple pictures of him attending UT football games, decked out in complete burnt orange swag, and lots of times he's on the sidelines, right at the action. Some of you can already see where I'm going with this. Now that SFA has moved into the University of Texas system, it would just be a nice surprise to have him make his way over, right?

I don't know that anyone reading this would have any connections to him, but hey, there's always a chance. If you have contacts, maybe let him know that he would be welcomed to Nacogdoches with open arms! I'd even volunteer to be the Nac tour guide during his time here!
