Adventure Buddies Event Lets You Spend the Afternoon with Adoptable Shelter Dogs
Dogs shouldn't stay cooped up in the shelter forever. I mean, come on, if you wouldn't like it, what makes you think that they would? What if I told you that there was a way to give them a break, and to also give them an afternoon of fun? Well, one of our local shelters in Nacogdoches is doing just that.
Nacogdoches Animal Shelter Announces Adventure Buddies
The Nacogdoches Animal Shelter is hosting an event on the afternoon of Friday, September 18th called Adventure Buddies. This is a chance when people can sign up to take adoptable dogs from the shelter out for one afternoon.

The way it works is that you go the the SignUpGenius page and select an open time slot to come pick up one of the dogs, and then you keep that dog for the afternoon before bringing it back to the shelter by 5:00 PM. There really aren't hidden strings attached. It's just to give the dogs a chance to have some fun outside of the shelter. Whether it's taking them for a walk through town, checking out the dog park, or just spending a few hours relaxing at home, the opportunities are endless.
Adventure Buddies Specific Information
There are a few guidelines that have to be observed - no, not hidden strings, just necessities. First of all, anyone participating in the Adventure Buddies event has to be over the age of 18. No surprise there.

Also, pick-ups at the shelter start at noon on the 18th and go through 1:30 PM. According to the Adventure Buddies at Nacogdoches Animal Services event page on Facebook, they will provide you with needed items, such as collars, leashes, bowls, etc. (This is an important detail, because the dogs aren't allowed to go without a leash, wherever participants decide to take them.). On a related note, the dogs aren't allowed to be taken outside of Nacogdoches County.
More information can be found on the Pets at Nacogdoches Animal Shelter Facebook page, as well as the Paws4Nac page.
