A Cut Above the Rest: The Couple Who Won Multiple Best of Nac Awards for Hair Care

You've all heard of the Best of Nac awards, right? Those are the awards that people vote on around Nacogdoches for all kinds of different categories - best restaurant, best real estate agent, best BBQ, best auto dealership, best beer selection...the list keeps going. This year, there were a couple - emphasis on COUPLE - of people that caught my attention when the winners were announced.

Kelly and Anel Owens Win Best Barber AND Best Hair Stylist in Nac

A few months ago, I posted the story about Kelly Owens moving his barbershop - Kelly's Barbershop - to a new space, right alongside the new NarroWay Fitness location on South Street. Since then, Kelly's wife Anel Owens has also moved her shop - Anel's Hair Salon - in the same building as the other two businesses. Now, not only do they have the exciting news of all the new business locations, but on top of that Kelly was named Best Barber in Nacogdoches, Anel was named Best Hairstylist in Nacogdoches, Kelly's Barbershop was named Best Barbershop, and Anel's Hair Salon was named One of the Best Hair Salons.

How cool is it to see a married couple take home awards in multiple categories? I'm sure it's happened before, but this is the first time that I've seen it happen for myself. I'd say that's the definition of a winning combo!

So, now if you go to get your hair styled by Anel or cut by Kelly, you'll be able to tell everyone that you got the work done by the Best of Nacogdoches. I heard someone refer to them as the "Dynamic Hair Duo of Nac". Pretty cool stuff!
