Nacogdoches Locations That Could House the Old Stone Fort
One of the hot-button topics in and around Nacogdoches right now continues to be the future of the Old Stone Fort Museum. For those of you that don't know about this topic, here's a bit of background: Stephen F. Austin State University recently approved their 10-year Campus Master Plan that includes all of the proposed upgrades, changes, etc. that will be made on campus.
One of those changes involved the construction of a new science building. Sounds simple enough, right? Well, apparently part of the new science building sits right on top of where the Old Stone Fort Museum currently sits. There were also no renderings in the Campus Master Plan to move it elsewhere on the property. Since then, there have been lots of discussions on what will happen to the building. There's even a petition that's still active, trying to keep the Stone Fort where it currently sits. The City of Nacogdoches even said that they would take ownership of the building, they just haven't said where the building would go.
Options for the Relocation of the Old Stone Fort Museum
I don't really have a dog in that fight, but at the end of the day, I feel like a new science building would benefit more students, and the university in general. However, I don't want to see the Old Stone Fort just go away altogether. That's why I put together a few ideas of where in Nacogdoches it could be relocated.

When it all comes down to it, you need to pick a good location for the future home of the museum, because that's where it's going to be for the foreseeable future - I mean, face it, it's been on the SFA campus for 90 years. After driving around Nac and looking at different options I narrowed it down to three options. Check out what I came up with:
