Nacogdoches Police Department is Hosting a One-Day Teen Academy

I don't know that I've ever met a kid that didn't want to be a police officer at some point in their life. I'm sure they exist; I just haven't met them. Well, if you know of a teen that's considering going into law enforcement - even just a little bit - the Nacogdoches Police Department is going to give them an inside look at what it's like.

Nacogdoches Police Department Will Host Teen Academy

According to the Nacogdoches Police Department Facebook page, Nac PD is getting ready to host its Teen Academy on Tuesday, August 4th. The Teen Academy will run from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

This is a chance for teenagers to learn more about law enforcement and the public safety field. During the academy they'll get the opportunity to cover all sorts of topics, from firearm safety, to SWAT operations, to hiring practices and more. It will give the students a look at all of the aspects of what it means to be law enforcement officers and what the work they do looks like.

If you've got a teen - or if you are a teen - that's interested in participating in the Teen Academy, you can request an application by sending an email to Sergeant Brett Ayres - ayresb@nactx.us. You can also pick up an application in-person at the Nacogdoches Police Department at 312 W. Main Street.

There are only 25 spaces available for students, and they'll only be accepting applications until all 25 spots are full. So, you probably don't want to wait too long to get those applications in.
