Yes, you read that correctly.  I know we are into the second week of March, but Winter is not done with us yet.

An arctic front will be moving through the Pineywoods by midday on Friday plummeting the temperatures into the 30s and 40s by sunset.  A better than 50/50 chance of precipitation will also begin by Friday afternoon and then should taper off by late Friday night.

Across most of Deep East Texas, that precipitation will be in the form of cold rain.  However, forecasters believe a swath from Rusk to Mt. Enterprise to Carthage and to other areas north of that could see some snow mixed in by Friday night.  Not much, if any accumulation is expected.  A light dusting should be the norm in areas north of Nacogdoches County, while upwards of a half-inch of snow could fall deeper into the Ark-La-Tex. A few flakes could fall in Angelina and Nacogdoches Counties, but it should melt on impact.

To be on the safe side, a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Friday afternoon and evening for Longview to Shreveport and areas to the north of that line.

The cold front should make its way through the Lufkin/Nacogdoches area by mid-morning on Friday.  We should really start to feel the effects of the front by the afternoon when the winds pick up out of the north with gusts up to 25 mph.  The temperature should reach about 60 by noon before falling throughout the afternoon. Skies will clear by late Friday and the low temperature for Friday night will get to the upper 20s.  The weekend should be sunny, but cooler with highs on Saturday in the 50s and then up to the 60s by Sunday.

Oh yeah, don't forget, this is Time Change Weekend.  Be sure to set your clocks forward one hour before going to bed on Saturday night.
