Early this morning, around 1 a.m., the dispatchers with the Nacogdoches Police Department received several 9-1-1 calls concerning a major accident that had taken place on North Street.  According to a release on the Nacogdoches Police Department's Facebook Page, officers responded to the 1700 block of North Street, which is located near the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.

Upon arrival, Nacogdoches Police found the driver of a white 2007 Ford Pickup had left the roadway while driving northbound and struck three pedestrians on the sidewalk.  The pick up truck also struck an electric pole causing power lines to fall to the ground.  Additional police, EMS as well as other emergency personnel responded to the scene of the crash.

Thankfully, all three pedestrians sustained non-life threatening injuries, however they were all taken to Nacogdoches area hospitals.  The adult pedestrian victim was transported by EMS to the hospital. The two juvenile pedestrian victims were transported by family members to the hospital.

Officials with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) have been monitoring the situation and early this morning around 7 a.m., they reported that the section of North Street between Starr Avenue and College Street was still closed as a result of crews clearing the roadway and repairing the damage done to the utility pole.  As of this writing (11 a.m.), there had been no further updates concerning the opening of that section of North Street.

During the course of the investigation by the Nacogdoches Police Department, the driver of the pickup was identified to be Logan Stanaland, 18, from Garrison, Texas.  Stanaland was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested. This is an ongoing investigation.
