Ever since Peking Chinese Restaurant in Nacogdoches announced that they were closing down their original North Street location to build and move to a brand new location, we've been keeping an eye on their progress. It's always interesting and exciting to see local businesses change it up a bit.

However, since their closing - back on December 31, 2019 - Peking has hit a few bumps that have caused them to delay their construction efforts and, ultimately, their re-opening. After the closing of the 3103 North Street location, the goal, according to the Peking Chinese Restaurant Facebook page was to build and re-open the restaurant at 205 Creek Bend Boulevard on March 1, 2020. If you aren't sure about where this location is, refer to the map below:

Peking has been very good about keeping the public updated on the progress of their re-opening via Facebook. On March 1st, they posted that they would have to delay their opening date back to April 6th, because of weather delays. On April 5th, they announced that they experienced more delays due to the pandemic affecting the delivery of building materials and that they were, "...hoping to reopen around the first week of May..."

Over this past weekend, they posted another update. This was from the Peking Chinese Restaurant Facebook Page as well:

Based on current progress, we are hoping to reopen around the first week of June.

I miss Peking, and I'm hoping that there won't be further delays after this one. Like I mentioned, it's exciting to see local businesses change things up, and I'm pretty excited to see the new location once it opens up. They're in the process of building an ENTIRELY new restaurant - not just revamping an existing building - so I'm anxious to see what they have in store!
